 Teacher's Guides

I can do a variety of things for your guide, and I'm always open to new ideas. Often though, I develop a comprehension check,
prediction questions for novels, and projects across the curriculum. I've also done guides that feature specific skills (like comprehension or writing) if that's what you'd like to focus on! Just ask, I'm flexible.

I’ve been a teacher for more than ten years, and have developed more literature based units than I care to admit. I also have my master’s degree in reading education, and am a children’s author myself. In addition, I write guides for the publishers themselves, and their formats are often changing! But, the best part is that I love to match eager learners and frazzled teachers up with the best new literature available today.

For an example, check out the ones  listed below.

If you’re interested the fees and incidentals are as follows:

  •  First, I’ll need a copy of the book. Your editor may agree to send this like a reviewers copy so ask before you relinquish one of your hard-earned author’s copies. But, please, no galleys (unless you promise to send the hard cover later!) Part of my reason for offering this service is to build a dynamite children’s library for my little sweethearts and my students.

  •  If you have a website, I ask that you include an active link to this site. And, if you make an easy to print version of the guide, that one remains with it as well.

  •  A brief clause at the end about who created the guide (and my link) helps me get more business (all my work is word of mouth).

  • Email me at tracievzimmer@carolina.rr.com  so I can slot your book into my schedule and I’ll give you my snail mail address.

  • Fees: Fiction & Non-fiction are priced the same:

$100 for a picture book

$200 for a book up to 200 pages

$300 for novels 200 + pages

“Tracie Zimmer did a fabulous guide for my book, Breathing Underwater.  The multiple intelligence projects are a great way to include all students.  Teachers I've spoken with loved the comprehension questions grouped around the different categories in Bloom's Taxonomy.   A guide like this provides teachers with a way to use my book to prepare for standardized tests where this sort of question is asked in the writing requirement.”
